Commencing my working life in the mid-seventies, the vast majority of my time has been spent within the construction industry. I have worked on a variety of engineering, new build, alteration and refurbishment projects across house, historical, farm and commercial and retail buildings and within the railway environment as an apprentice, tradesman, foreman and supervisor. I also spent four years as a contracts manager in a maintenance based environment before entering the field of health and safety full time in 1998.
Within health and safety; I have again worked on a range of project types carrying out health and safety inspections, providing consultancy advice including policy and assessment development, determination of safe systems of work, undertaking audits and incident investigation. I have also worked as a planning supervisor (converting to a CDM Coordinator and now have undertaken the conversion exams for Principal Designer) on small and large projects, in addition to developing and delivering training courses including CITB courses.
I Have a Master of Science degree in Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety Management through Portsmouth University, renowned in this field. I passed the NEBOSH National General Certificate with distinction in 1996 and completed the NVQ Level 4 in Occupational Safety and Health a couple of years later.
I have certification to be an internal auditor for the ISO 9000 series and as a lead auditor for the OHSAS 18001. I also have certification as a lead accident investigator, A CITB trainer and hold a PEGC teacher training qualification. In addition, I have had training in scaffold and advanced scaffold inspection, asbestos safety, fire safety, traffic management, mechanical and electrical safety and crane safety.
In addition; I have a training certificate for Further and Adult training through the City and Guilds (7307 Stages I and II) and an assessors award.
I am a Chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, a full member of the International Institute of Risk Safety Management, a full member of the Institute of Industrial Accident Investigators and Association of Project Safety.

My working history began in the early seventies with the focus on banking and finance by the late eighties I moved into heavy side builder’s me chanting and became the 1st woman manager for the Builder Center Group in the early 90’s this position heralded the start of my health & safety career. In 1993 joining a South London Further Education College as a Health & Safety Officer where I began to specialise and gain vocational qualifications. During the next 7 years I also specialised in Facilities Management, becoming the Estates Manager for 11 centres.
During this period, I also began the S.E. Health & Safety Network Group in Further Education. In 2000 I again specialised in London working for an Executive Search company acquiring property for them and undertaking their office refurbishments culminating in the moving of the headquarters to a newly refurbished building in Mayfair (project value £5 million). Upon completion of this project I moved back into health and safety full time. In recent years I have concentrated on consultancy work including: policy reviews, new policies, 3rd party qualifications , risk assessments, CDM works, auditing (including 18001) and implementation of management systems for a large client base
I have gained NEBOSH qualifications in the General & Construction Certificates in 1995 & 1996.

In addition, I have had training in management development programmes, C&G construction materials distribution, scaffold inspection, asbestos safety, fire safety, management systems and their integration and working at height. Diploma gained in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS).
I am a Technical member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, an Associate member of the International Institute of Risk Safety Management, a full member of the Institute of Industrial Accident Investigators and Association of Project Safety.
